ADAM A77X monitor has won the Sound On Sound Award within the "Best Studio Monitors" category"!
ADAM Audio is pleased to announce that its A77X monitor has received the award for Best Studio Monitor for the 2016 SOS Awards by the editors of Sound On Sound Magazine. The award was presented during this year’s Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA.
ADAM Audio monitors have won several SOS Awards in recent years, with the ADAM F7 and A7X monitors each winning SOS Awards for Best Studio Monitor in 2012 and 2014. Each year, the editors of Sound On Sound magazine nominate products introduced over the past year which they select as having made significant contributions in advancing audio technology, with readers’ then casting their votes to elect the winners in each category.
“We are very pleased to accept the Best Studio Monitor Award for the A77X, and are flattered that ADAM Audio monitors have been recognized once again by the readers and editors of Sound On Sound for their contribution to the professional audio industry,” says David Angress, CEO at ADAM Audio.

NAMM 2016: Washburn unveils new Comfort and Apprentice Series acoustics
Joining the ranks of Washburn's NAMM debutants, the Heritage and Woodline Series, are four new Grand Auditorium acoustics - two a-piece for the brand's Apprentice and Comfort Series.

It's been three year's since TC Electronic announced it's first Ditto Looper, since then we've had the Ditto X2 in 2014 and now here we have the X4.
The new pedal expands the X2's palette adding new loop effects, loop import and export and the ability to run two loops "simultaneously or interchangeably", which alongside the stereo in/out opens up a wealth of possibilities.
PRESS RELEASE: (Anaheim, CA, January 21st 2016). TC Electronic announces Ditto X4 Looper, the latest addition to their popular line of looper pedals.
Ditto X4 Looper is the next natural development in TC Electronic's famed Ditto Looper series. It takes the ease-of-use and pristine audio quality of the original, and adds 2 loop tracks, 2 loop modes, 7 loop FX, loop decay, MIDI Sync/CC, loop import/export and stereo I/O to the equation for unprecedented creative possibilities.
Dirt simple looping
Dual loop tracks
Serial and Sync mode
7 loop FX (incl. Tape Stop, Hold, Fade, Reverse etc.)
Dedicated stop button
MIDI Sync and CC
There's enough inspiring options on tap to satisfy even the most hardened loop aficionados. With the option of running the two loops simultaneously or interchangeably, musicians will be able to create everything from otherworldly soundscapes to fully fledged songs in a matter of seconds. Whereas the 7 loop FX and loop decay offer the option for keeping the composition interesting and continually evolving.
The hardcore live loopers are also being catered to with MIDI Sync and control, and Stereo I/O for larger than life loops that's perfectly in sync with ones backing tracks.
There's no doubt that Ditto X4 Looper will quickly become the canvas for a multitude of future sonic masterpieces!
New unit designed to offer simple and intuitive solution for singers.
TC-Helicon has released its most intuitive vocal processor yet in the form of the Perform-V.
The Perform-V vocal processor is designed to remove the obstacles singers can sometimes face during live performance performance by providing easy control of ‘tried-and-true’ vocal sounds, whilst it expertly polishes the production values via intelligent Tone functions (Adaptive EQ, Compression, De-essing and Gating), automatic mic input gain, pitch correction and anti-feedback algorithms.
Using Perform-V is as simple as plugging in a mic, and it snaps directly onto the mic stand.
For singers wanting to go beyond the essential sounds included in the box, TC-Helicon serves up hundreds of additional vocal sounds for free download, using sister company TC Electronic’s proprietary technology (known from their TonePrint app) to send presets directly from a smartphone to Perform-V, without the need for accessories or a wireless/Bluetooth connection.
Available now, the Perform-V retails at £145.
TC-Helicon sister company TC Electronic has so far introduced three new pedals at NAMM 2016 – the BonaFide Buffer, SpectraComp Bass Compressor and Ditto X4 Looper.
NAMM 2016: New Korg nanoSeries Studio MIDI controllers let you play and mix wirelessly
Keyboard and mixer devices are portable in every sense
NAMM 2016: When Korg released its first nanoSeries controllers in 2008 it pretty much created a new product category: the ultra-portable MIDI keyboard, drum pad and mixer.
Since then, several other manufacturers have released rival hardware - and we've had the second-gen nanoSeries - but now Korg has upped the ante again with the announcement of the nanoKey Studio and nanoKontrol Studio, two battery-operated devices that can be used wirelessly.
The nanoKey Studio gives you 25 pad-style keys that are velocity sensitive. They're also illuminated, which comes in handy when you engage the Scale Guide function. This lights up the 'recommended' notes of a scale, making it easier to play, while the Easy Scale feature enables you to produce musical phrases using any keys.
Above the keyboard are eight velocity-sensitive trigger pads that are designed not only for recording drums, but also chords. The Chord Scale function automatically assigns the 'best' chords based on your selected key and scale, aiding composition. The nanoKey Studio also includes a KAOSS-style touchpad and eight assignable knobs.
If the nanoKey Studio is designed for creating music then the nanoKontrol Studio is best suited to mixing it, offering eight channels of faders, knobs and buttons. There are also transport controls and a jog wheel.
Both controllers are compatible with PC, Mac and iOS, and can be plugged in (via a USB cable) or used wirelessly via Bluetooth 4.0 (assuming your OS supports it). Each one also comes with a decent bundle of production software, plus a software editor and, in the case off the nanoKontrol Studio, a Control Surface plugin for GarageBand and Logic Pro X users.
The nanoSeries Studio controllers will be priced at £130 each and will ship in April (nanoKontrol) and May (nanoKey). Find out more on the Korg website.

The Korg Volca FM is also fully compatible with DX7 sounds via SysEx to play classic patches from arsenal of synthesized sounds. MIDI in and sync in/out features are also present.
NAMM 2016: Orange O Bass, 4 Stroke Series Amplifiers and OB-1 Combo Announced
Orange Amps unveil three new product lines, which boast both vintage and modern features and sounds, welcome the O Bass, 4 Stroke bass amp head and the OB-1 300 combo.
The O Bass was initially used as a demonstrator piece at NAMM 2014, however, following a few leaked videos on the internet, Orange has been inundated with requests to bring the bass guitar into production. Orange has responded to the masses and introduced the O Bass in three distinct finishes: orange, black and Tear Drop Sunburst.
Everything from motown to rock 'n' roll can be delivered well sonically through this vintage-styled guitar with custom-wound pickups.
4 Stroke is Orange's latest rackmount bass amplifiers, available in 300 and 500 watt versions, that can go from crystal clean to expressive with assertive bite from unparalleled EQ control. The class AB circuitry helps deliver these tones with real authority - and according to Orange, it will leave Class D amplifiers in its wake!
Building on the success of the OB-1 rackmountable amp heads - Orange has now introduced the OB1-300 Combo in two different finishes; black or orange. It boasts a 15" eminence speaker, active EQ and balanced and line outputs.
The DigiTech TRIO is a simple-to-use guitar pedal that listens to the way you play and automatically generates bass and drum parts that match your song.

The DigiTech TRIO provides 12 music genres to choose from including: Blues, R&B, Rock, Alternative Rock, Metal, Pop, Electronic Pop, Hip-Hop, Country, Folk, Latin, and Jazz.

We compiled a list of the top five most requested features and made them the priority for TRIO and I'm proud to say that we've incorporated all five into this irresistible new product. The new pedal includes a built-in synced looper, SD Memory Card expansion, and we'e added an FX loop that provides improved operation with existing pedals,"

This is a great tool for any musician who wants to write, practice or jam out with some excellent, always-ready accompaniment." - Tom Cram, Marketing Manager, DigiTech.
The Shure KSM8 will revolutionize dynamic microphones in the live sound industry by providing sound engineers with a dynamic microphone that has virtually no proximity effect, a mastery of off-axis rejection and an output accuracy that requires none of the presence peaks or roll-offs that are typical of other dynamic microphones.
"It's a hit!" stated Chris Pollard, FOH Mumford & Sons. "Marcus really enjoyed the KSM8 on his first gig with it last night at Rock in Roma. As did I. Really clean, flat response, smooth HF and the reduction in spill is quite amazing! He'd like to change the mic out mid tour, Marcus also commented on how good the mic looked, and wanted to use it immediately...."
The ability to virtually eliminate proximity effect and master off-axis rejection is powered by the patented Dualdyne cartridge of the KSM8. The cartridge features two ultra-thin diaphragms-one active and one passive-and a groundbreaking inverted airflow system.
The black-finished KSM8 is also available as handheld transmitter option for use with Axient, UHF-R, ULX-D, and QLX-D wireless systems.

PreSonus is pleased to announce the acquisition of loudspeaker manufacturer WorxAudio Technologies, Inc., of Greensboro, North Carolina, founded in 1979 by CEO and Director of Engineering Hugh Sarvis.
WorxAudio designs and manufactures a broad range of line array, point-source, sub-bass, stage monitor, and related loudspeaker systems and accessories. WorxAudio has established itself as a leading provider of loudspeaker systems in the mid to large church market, professional touring, and corporate AV channels.
With this acquisition, WorxAudio will significantly augment core elements of PreSonus’ professional loudspeaker development efforts, especially drivers, system and mechanical design, system tuning, and rigging system design. In addition, WorxAudio’s knowledge of the commercial sound and portable/touring markets will help PreSonus develop the infrastructure required to support the specific requirements of those customers. With PreSonus’s technical, software, distribution, and financial resources and WorxAudio’s technical, domain, and production expertise, the resulting collaboration—led by Hugh Sarvis—creates a very formidable competitor in the live-sound loudspeaker market.
“This is a logical move for us,” observes PreSonus CEO Jim Mack. “Our StudioLive™ AI series loudspeakers are great for small to medium-sized venues, but the advanced DSP platform utilized in the AI speaker line, including the optional Dante networking capability, is extremely valuable for systems designed for much larger venues and environments. The acquisition of WorxAudio significantly extends our product line to provide advanced networked loudspeaker systems to a much larger audience. Further, this acquisition brings us extremely valuable engineering system design expertise and technology, as well as loudspeaker manufacturing expertise.”
WorxAudio has gained considerable notoriety by placing near the top in several loudspeaker array shootouts, and they were the first company to implement AFMG’s advanced FIRMaker technology.
Says AFMG’s Managing Director Stefan Feistel, “WorxAudio is a premium example of a long-lasting, very positive business relationship for AFMG. WorxAudio is the first FIRmaker licensee to actually deliver two very impressive installs employing this revolutionary technology. Congratulations!”
One of the fastest growing companies in the pro audio industry, PreSonus has a well-established worldwide sales channel and, in recent years, has significantly expanded its operations, marketing and branding, testing facilities, and technical/customer support. The combined companies are expected to develop a broad range of loudspeakers for studio and stage, from low-cost, high-value products for musicians to advanced systems for mid-sized rental touring companies and systems integrators.
“Like WorxAudio, PreSonus is engineering-driven,” comments Sarvis. “We’re excited about combining our engineering know-how with PreSonus’ networking, software, and signal-processing technology to develop groundbreaking and highly competitive new professional audio products.”

The Xone:DB4 is a truly ground-breaking mixer and by far the most advanced product that we have designed. Every feature has been meticulously researched with a view to offering DJs ultimate creativity.
Allen & Heath has launched the ZED60-14FX, a highly compact analogue mixer that is ideal for small bands and venues. ZED60-14FX is a companion to the ZED60-10FX launched earlier this year, employing the same high quality 60mm faders but with the addition of an extra 4 mono/mic channels.
Two of the 8 mono channels have high impedance jack inputs that can take a normal line level or a low level input from a guitar pickup, so guitars can be plugged straight into the mixer without the need for DI boxes. These inputs have been crafted to recreate the sound of a classic tube preamp in a combo or head amp for incredible definition and warmth. Two stereo inputs are provided for MP3/CD players or keyboards.
The ZED60-14FX also comes with configurable USB audio in/out, making it easy to capture a stereo recording at the gig or in the studio. The mixer is equipped with professional XLR main stereo outputs, a flexible monitoring section with headphone and speaker feed outputs, and 16 high quality digital effects.
Allen & Heath designer, Mike Griffin, explains:
“We designed the ZED-60 mixers to complement the very popular ZED-10FX which is a super-compact but professional standard mixer with rotary faders. The ZED-60 models incorporate additional channel mute switches and 60mm faders making them great to use for dynamic mixing but still retaining their diminutive size. The ZED60-14FX takes it one step further - with 8 mono channels, 2 stereo channels and our renowned in-house designed effects, it’s a very useful piece of kit indeed.”
InfoComm 2012: Doors open on largest expo ever, what we know so far
The ribbon is cut. The doors are open. The three-day show begins. The audiovisual industry descends upon the InfoComm 2012 exhibition at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
According to the organisers, this year’s event looks to be the largest in its history.
“Support of InfoComm 2012 has been very encouraging,” explained InfoComm’s Senior Vice President for Expositions, Jason McGraw. “Trade show attendance is on the rise overall, and InfoComm 2012 is no exception. We are tracking well ahead of last year’s registrations to date, and our attendees will be exploring a Show floor that has never been larger.”
Indeed, the 500,000 square foot show floor open to attendees is the largest of any commercial audiovisual show in the world. Within it are housed more than 925 exhibitors from across the integrated display, projection, audio, conferencing, lighting and staging, digital signage and communications systems industry.
The organisers anticipate over 34,000 attendees from the AV industry—of whom over 50 per cent attend no other trade shows—from over 90 countries.
NILES, IL, June 13, 2012 — Shure Incorporated is extending its ULX-D™ Digital Wireless Microphone System with new multi-channel receivers, a High Density mode that enables 47 systems to operate in just six MHz of spectrum, and integrated Dante™ digital audio networking.
The new ULXD4D dual channel digital receiver and ULXD4Q quad channel digital receiver pack two or four channels of wireless into one rack space, with individual gain controls, LED meters, and XLR outputs for each channel. Like the single-channel, half-rack ULXD4 digital receiver, the new dual and quad receivers feature fully digital audio processing and RF transmission as well as AES 256-bit encryption.
“ULX-D has already set a new bar for audio quality, spectral efficiency, and features with its intelligent rechargeable batteries and AES256 encryption,” said Erik Vaveris, Category Director for Wireless products at Shure. “The addition of full-rack dual and space-saving quad-channel receivers provides customers with professional form factors and an amazing list of new features and enhancements.”
The dual and quad receivers add two new features that make using a large number of systems not only possible, but simple. Selecting High Density mode enables up to 47 ULX-D systems to operate in just six MHz of spectrum (equal to one U.S. television channel), with a working range up to 30 meters. High Density mode optimizes the system’s output power and digital RF filtering to reduce its spectral footprint from 350 kHz to 125 kHz, with no loss of sound quality. This lets ULX-D systems be tuned to frequencies that are much closer together without interfering with each other. Even in Standard mode, up to 17 ULX-D systems can operate in six MHz.
“High Density mode provides a unique option for getting an unprecedented number of microphones on the air,” added Vaveris. “As spectrum challenges continue to increase, High Density mode is a key tool for systems integrators who need to maximize the amount of microphones that can reliably operate in less spectrum.”
The ULXD4D and ULXD4Q receivers are also equipped with integrated Dante digital audio networking, which enables multiple channels of audio to be distributed to a variety of devices over a single Ethernet cable, including Yamaha’s new CL Series consoles. Dante networking provides reliable, low latency audio transport, and can coexist safely on the same network as IT and control data. Shure has executed a licensing agreement with Sydney, Australia-based Audinate for the Dante digital audio networking technology.
Launching the dual and quad receivers at InfoComm makes perfect sense because their feature set is so well suited to the needs of systems integrators. Starting with ULX-D’s remarkable audio and RF performance, adding Dante Digital audio networking provides a great way to simplify set up while also increasing flexibility in installed sound systems. Include features like bodypack frequency diversity, a reliable and intelligent rechargeable battery system, and digital encryption, and you have a wireless microphone system that can meet the needs of just about any sound reinforcement application.
The new ULXD4D and ULXD4Q receivers will be available in late summer 2012 through authorized Shure resellers in numerous configurations with a wide range of Shure microphone options.
Last week’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations had the whole world glued to their TV sets as the Queen celebrated 60 years on the throne in style. The four-day commemorative occasion was rounded off in style as some of the leading names in the world of music including Sir Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and Sir Cliff Richard gathered outside Buckingham Palace at the Queen Victoria Memorial to perform for the huge crowds that lined the Mall and its surrounding areas.
The main guitarist for the house band was Milton McDonald, a Peavey user for more than a decade. His amplifier of choice has always been a Peavey Classic 50 410 combo, and due to its flexibility and versatility, guitar technician Steve Prior – another Peavey advocate - requested four of them, along with some Classic 50 212s, for the six guest guitarists.
“A couple of the guests weren’t keen on an amp with a 10-inch speaker, which is why we got the 212s in as well; I also brought my own Peavey Delta Blues, which is a great amp,” Prior explains. “Mike Stevens, the MD, used that in the end, and everyone wanted to use it when they heard him play through it – it really did sound amazing.”
Because the amplifiers had to be hidden under the stage, and the weather was also particularly bad on the day, a few tweaks had to be made to the setup. Blankets were used to soften the Queen Victoria Memorial’s marble base, and a carpeted box was built to keep the amps isolated and prevent any undesirable audio effects being generated.
“Any valve amp needs to be driven hard, and the Classic 50 comes in a fantastic format as it’s a dual-channel amp, which means you can really control it sonically; you can balance things up, even with six different guitarists,” he says. “Aside from Milton, I had the guitarists for Cliff Richard, Tom Jones and Annie Lennox all plugged into the 410s or 212s. They provide a nice big clean sound as well as a fantastic crunchier ‘core’ sound if you plug into the lead channel rather than the normal one – very versatile indeed.”
Another advantage in using the Classic 50s, Prior reveals, is its EQ, which he says works “absolutely beautifully” – something he rarely says about a combo amplifier.
“Some EQ sections on amps don’t do much at all and you need to boost the mids, but with these Peavey amps, you have all the top end you could wish for,” he reveals. “Once it’s stable, it’s an extremely serviceable and durable amp.”
During rehearsals for the Diamond Jubilee show, Prior attached a long loom to McDonald’s pedal board, which ran a buffered signal to the amps, situated some 25-metres away. Aside from an inevitable minor time delay, he says they still sounded fantastic.
“I have absolutely no criticisms whatsoever,” he concludes. “I have my own hire business and work with loads of amps, so I know what’s good and what’s not; going back 30 years, my first amp was a Peavey Bandit 212, and that held its own against anything. After this show, I am now on the lookout for a 410 and 212 myself, and I am certainly an ambassador for the Peavey cause; I’ll encourage anyone to use one.”
Shaking up the pro audio industry with innovative power amplifier designs has become our trademark. More than 30 years ago, we were the first to break the $1-per-watt barrier. Now with the Peavey IPR Series, we've pushed technological limits again to bring you an amazingly powerful and efficient power amp for just pennies per watt.
Boasting a net weight as low as 7 lbs., the groundbreaking IPR Series utilizes an advanced design that allows our engineers to dramatically reduce weight while increasing output power, reliability and thermal efficiency. IPR Series amplifiers are designed with a resonant switch-mode power supply and a high-speed class D topology that yields the highest audio resolution and efficiency available. And all at a cost that shatters the old-guard paradigm of power-amp valuation.
The IPR DSP Series amplifiers feature the same power ratings, design and efficiency, plus a 32-bit processor with a suite of delays and crossovers, pre-programmed loudspeaker settings, stereo/mono operation, lockout--and for the first time in any power amplifier, built-in Waves® MaxxBass® technology, which uses psycho-acoustics to add more low-end to your system without the need for more power amps, processing or subwoofers.
Amps in the IPR DSP line contain presets for Peavey SP®, PR®, Impulse®, SSE™, QW®, PV® Series loudspeakers and monitors, as well as other commonly used loudspeaker configurations, plus special presets for program music applications (dance, speech, rock, thump, loudness, contemporary worship). Manual mode allows you to assign your custom crossover points, EQ, delay and more.
Allen & Heath’s iLive digital mixing system was selected by promoters, Cato Music, to manage FOH and monitors on the British Music Embassy stage at this year’s iconic SXSW festival in Austin TX, USA. Showcasing the UK’s brightest new bands and artists, the British Music Embassy was exclusively based at downtown Austin’s Latitude 30 club, where an iDR-48 MixRack and iLive-T112 Control Surface was installed at FOH, digitally split using a Dante networking card to a duplicate iDR-48/T112 for monitors.
There were performances from nearly 60 bands over the course of the week-long festival, including emerging talent Django Django, fiN, Maverick Sabre, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Jonquil, Ben Howard, Slow Club, Twin Atlantic, D/R/U/G/S, Skindred, and Clock Opera.
“I ran the desk in a very analogue way, all inputs on the left banks, and master section on the right and some visiting engineers wanted things moved around but we always managed to get the bands ready in the 15 minute changeovers. Some band engineers had never used the desk before but were so stunned by the ease of use, sound quality and format of the system they promptly added iLive to their riders,” explains FOH house engineer, Fabrizio Piazzini. “The festival patch included 37 channels but running iLive Editor meant I could drop all the channels for each performance on a single layer with just a few clicks. On the monitor side, we were running 5 mixes, with the odd band turning up with full IEM rigs. To ring out the wedges, we used the iLive MixPad app so we could actually EQ the system in the spot the artist would stand.”
The iLive system was supplied by Allen & Heath’s USA distributor, American Music & Sound, which also supplied Turbosound loudspeakers and beyerdynamic mics.
“I think iLive was a critical piece of the set up and it delivered every night,” commented Glen Rowe from Cato Music. “The British Music Embassy was a huge success this year and some sessions were so busy we set up more delays and opened the windows on the venue for people to hear outside!”
Peavey® Celebrates 20 Years of the 6505® Guitar Amplifier
The Peavey 6505 has defined the sound of aggressive music for two decades
Peavey® is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its legendary 6505® Series guitar amplifier line, the amps that have defined the sound of aggression in music for two decades.
“The Peavey 6505 Series has earned its place in rock history as the guitar amplifiers of choice for a wide range of top rock and metal artists,” said Hartley Peavey, founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics.
The Peavey 6505 has helped define the down-tuned sound of modern metal in the arsenals of artists like Machine Head and producers such as Colin Richardson, Andy Sneap and Jason Suecof, who have produced the most enduring metal and hard rock albums of the past two decades.
“The 6505 was the first amp you could plug into for that heavier, thrashier tone,” said Sneap.
One of the keys to bringing metal’s new lows to the masses was Peavey’s patented Resonance circuit, which keeps the extreme low-end tight where other amps cannot. Resonance causes dramatic changes to the low-end response and allows the speaker to recreate the extended low frequencies with clarity and punch. Resonance is still a key ingredient of the 6505 sound today.
“When you throw in the Resonance, you almost get an extra sub-harmonic that is below where the bass is,” said Richardson, whose credits include Machine Head, Chimaira and more. “They’re some of the heaviest tones I’ve ever tracked.”
Machine Head’s Robb Flynn has used the amp since the recording sessions for his band’s debut, Burn My Eyes, in the early ‘90s. “We were trying to get a modern, heavy tone,” he said. “And when we came across [the 6505], it was crushing. It’s got a really incredible midrange growl that works so well.”
The 6505 legacy continues today with an artist roster that includes Bullet For My Valentine, Asking Alexandria, All That Remains, Black Veil Brides, The Devil Wears Prada, Bring Me The Horizon, August Burns Red and more.
“It might be on 60-70% of [metal] releases that have come out in the last 20 years,” said Richardson. “If you put a metal record on, I’m sure Peavey is over 50% of what you’re hearing.”
Added Flynn, “Now that guitar tone has pretty much defined a generation of guitar tone.”
The Peavey 6505 Series includes the original 6505 head; the 6505 Plus, which features two independent channels; the 6534™ Plus, outfitted with EL34 tubes for a more British-sounding tone; and two combo versions of the 6505 Plus, a 1x12 and a 2x12.
Until today, guitarists could only choose between two types of amplifiers: heads and combos.
Now, we are introducing a completely new breed of amp: The Stomp-Head.
It is a pure analog design with unprecedented light weight and small size.
The amplifier can be placed either on a stage floor just beside the effects, in a traditional way on the top of the speaker cabinet or set up on an effect board.
It features a built-in foot switch which allows fast channel and sound shape changes during the performance. The stomp-head can be used as a power-amp for another preamp.
Now you will know how it's like to take your sound everywhere you wish.
You can choose beetween two models - Stomp - Head 4. SL(Silver Line) and Stomp- Head 3.BL( Black Line). Stomp Head 3.BL (Black Line) has tree foot switches, Stomp- Head 4.SL ( Silver Line) has four and it's tube- transistor hybrid. "Master Tube" is responsible for stomp-head's power amp, while other tube works in preamp.
CELESTION LAUNCH NEW FAMILY OF FULL-RANGE, COMPACT LINE ARRAY DRIVERS
These drivers have been optimized using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to give a wider dispersion characteristic than conventional loudspeakers of this size. They also feature a square chassis allowing them to be positioned more closely for improved coupling in multiple driver configurations.
With Celestion's Compact Array Drivers, systems designers are now able to build into their products some of the principal advantages offered by line array designs: a more even distribution of the acoustic signal and the ability to project sound over greater distances.
Big update with several new features for Nord Stage 2 users!
2012-04-25 The new Nord Sound Manager v6.10 introduces a new approach to the way a program relates to pianos and samples in the Nord Stage 2. Instead of referencing to a location like before, programs will now know their source pianos/samples by name. This lets you move piano or samples around without it affecting the dependent programs. The Nord Stage 2 must be updated to version 1.60 and all programs converted by the Nord Sound Manager to the new format in order to benefit from the new features.
Other new features include a new Info pane that gives detailed info on which programs use which pianos/samples and vice versa and there's a handy Relink feature for assigning new sounds to existing programs. There's also a great new feature called Bundles that lets you pack together all the ingredients of sounds (programs, samples and pianos) into a single file - perfect for a selective backup and for sharing sounds with Nord owners with compatible instruments.
We just got back from a very successful NAB show in Las Vegas where we received a 'best in show award' for DBM50! Woo-Hoo! These awards are given by the editorial staffs of Pro Sound News and Pro Audio Review magazines, with a little help from Audio Media and Mix magazine. In other words, these are guys that eat, sleep and breathe pro-gear and we think it's pretty cool they awarded DBM50 this honor.

Allen & Heath has announced the Xone:K2, a MIDI controller and audio interface with a 4-channel internal soundcard, configurable MIDI surface with tri-color LED illumination, USB bus power, and incorporating A&H’s proprietary X:LINK to connect with other Xone equipment
The K2 is designed to work with all MIDI-enabled DAW applications and interface with popular DJ software packages, such as Ableton, Traktor Pro and Serato Scratch Live. It has 52 physical controls – including 12 analogue and 6 endless rotary encoders with push switch, 4 linear faders, and 30 back lit performances switches – providing up to 171 MIDI control commands across 3 layers. The K2′s MIDI interface can be configured by the user, so the unit can be left in Open Architecture (Latching Layers off) Mode or set to Latching Layers Mode.
K2 has an internal 4-channel high quality soundcard, that can operate at 44.1 and 48kHz, and all channels run from the PC to the unit, configured to provide 2 stereo channels, one for headphones one for master out L and R, allowing headphone cueing without interrupting the master out. There is also a dedicated 3.5mm headphone jack, and a master out on RCA phono connectors.
It is possible to link two K2 units together to double the control area using Allen & Heath’s proprietary X:LINK protocol. X:LINK uses a standard RJ45 connector and distributes power and data, which means two units can be connected to your DAW using only one USB port.
Xone:K2 is constructed with a strong plastic base and steel front panel employing A&H’s nutted pot construction to be both lightweight and hard-wearing. Finally, the K2 comes with a stylish carry case that doubles as a stand for ease of use for travelling DJs.
NAMM 2012: Universal Audio Apollo - audio interface with UAD DSP
At its heart, it's high-end 24-bit/192kHz recording front end, but it also enables you to track through the UAD range of powered plug-ins. It'll be available in Duo and Quad processing guises in the first quarter 2012, with prices estimated at $1,999 and $2,499 respectively.
It's worth noting that a Thunderbolt option card is set to be made available too, which will enable "lower latency, reduced audio buffer size, improved performance at high sample rates, and greater UAD plug-in instances" in comparison with FireWire.
Apollo has plenty going for it, then - here's the official line from Universal Audio.
Universal Audio Apollo press release
Universal Audio (UA), a leading manufacturer of professional audio recording hardware and software, is proud to announce Apollo®, a high-resolution audio interface that combines UA's analog design heritage with esteemed UAD Powered Plug-Ins in a sleek, elegant recording system for Mac and PC*. With Apollo, music producers and performers can finally track through UAD Powered Plug-Ins in real time, via a professional 18 x 24 FireWire/Thunderbolt™-ready audio interface that delivers class-leading 24-bit/192 kHz sound quality.
"Apollo is the culmination of 10 years of analog and digital audio development here at UA," said Bill Putnam Jr., Universal Audio founder. "In many ways, it's brought the analog and digital sides of our company together. With Apollo, we're delivering the sound, feel, and flow of analog recording with all the conveniences of modern digital equipment, including next-generation Thunderbolt technology."
Apollo is, first and foremost, a well-built, high-resolution audio interface, featuring premium mic preamps and top-end converters to deliver the lowest THD and highest dynamic range in its class. Its Core Audio and ASIO* drivers ensure compatibility with all major DAWs, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Live, and more. Moreover, Apollo's Console application and companion Console Recall plug-in (VST/AU/RTAS) provide control and recall of all interface and UAD plug-in settings within individual DAW sessions, even months and years later.
Apollo differentiates itself from all other audio interfaces, however, via its onboard UAD-2 DSP Acceleration. This onboard processing allows for recording through UAD-2 Powered Plug-Ins — with nearly instant sub-2ms latency — so that music producers can quickly monitor, audition, and "print" audio using a wide range of popular analog emulation plug-ins from Ampex, Lexicon, Manley, Neve, Roland, SSL, Studer, and more.** In this way, Apollo's sonic character and tonal options are virtually limitless. The onboard UAD-2 processors are also available for mixing and mastering, offloading processing from the host computer.
Notably, Apollo offers compatibility with Intel's new Thunderbolt technology, as found on the newest iMacs, MacBook Pros, and MacBook Airs. Available via a user-installable Thunderbolt Option Card (sold separately), Thunderbolt provides lower latency, reduced audio buffer size, improved performance at high sample rates, and greater UAD plug-in instances versus FireWire.
"Thunderbolt technology makes possible a whole new class of products to enhance music production workflows and creativity," says Jason Ziller, Director of Marketing and Planning for Thunderbolt technology at Intel® Corporation. "Products like Universal Audio's Apollo are using Thunderbolt to rock music producers' worlds."
Apollo incorporates numerous design hallmarks from classic UA analog gear, including its fast, easy workflow. Dedicated front-panel controls are present for all the most common features, including preamp gain, channel selection, mic pad, +48V phantom power, low cut, monitor level, and dual headphone controls.
Apollo's connectivity includes 4 digitally controlled analog mic preamps, 8 balanced line inputs and outputs, dual front-panel JFET DIs, digitally-controlled analog monitor outputs, 8 channels of ADAT, 2 channels of S/PDIF, word clock I/O, FireWire 800 (standard), and a Thunderbolt expansion bay — making it a well-equipped centerpiece for the modern project studio.
LOS ANGELES – If there’s one thing visitors to Elation Professional’s Winter 2012 NAMM display will immediately notice, it’s that the company has spread its horizons well beyond the cutting-edge, value-driven lighting fixtures it has become so well known for. Two of Elation’s most exciting and innovative new NAMM introductions are in the video realm: a unique flexible LED panel that can bend around dimensional surfaces to create curved video walls; and a DMX-512 moving head video camera that can project images of people and objects in a room or dance floor onto a video wall or TV.
Also new and on the “edge” – quite literally -- is Elation’s easy-to-use RGB LED pixel tape, which can be affixed to the edges and surfaces of any object in moments to highlight it with a dramatic border of changing colors. As far as lights themselves go, Elation will be showing plenty of remarkable fixtures too, like the Opti QA Par, an RGBA color-mixing LED par can that features the company’s exclusive Quad Color Technology, in which four colors – red, green, blue and amber are combined into each LED source for superior color blending.
Elation Professional NYC Schools Reduce Stage Lighting With Elation Lights
NEW YORK – Two New York City public schools have dramatically reduced the energy consumption of their stage lighting systems by more than 80% after replacing their existing conventional lighting rigs with LEDs from Elation Professional.
This amazing plunge in energy usage occurred at Walton High School and PS 86X, an elementary school. The two schools installed the new lighting systems as part of an experiment conducted by the Division of School Facilities, Board of Education, City of New York to gauge the cost-saving potential of LEDs.
The experiment began about four years ago, said Michael A. Fink of Magical Designs (Brooklyn, NY), who works as a design consultant to Prince Electric, which is under contract with the Division of School Facilities. “At that time, one of the division’s inspectors approached me and asked if we could put in an LED (stage lighting) system at one of the schools so that they could take a look at it,” said Fink. “That school -- Walton High School -- was very large.”
All of the lighting on the massive (56’ wide by 25’ deep) stage in Walton’s auditorium was subsequently replaced with Elation Opti Tri Pars and Design LED 60 Tri-Strips. The Opti Tri Par is a DMX-compatible RGB LED Par, powered by 18 3-watt tri-color (red, green, blue) LEDs. The DLED 60 Tri-Strip is a 68” LED strip containing 60 3-watt tri-color (red, green, blue) LEDs.
Twelve Opti Tri Pars were installed on a strip across the front of the stage. Behind it were three identical strips, each holding four DLED 60 Tri-Strips, plus five Opti Tri Pars positioned between the strips and at either end “to focus in on specific areas”. The total number of LED fixtures came to 27 Opti Tri Pars, and 12 DLED 60 Tri-Strips. Conventional fixtures continued to be used for Front of House lighting.
Where Walton’s old stage lighting system had required 100,200 watts of electricity, the new LED rig ran on just 18,464 watts, Fink reported – a remarkable 81% drop in energy consumption. “And that number included the Front of House conventionals,” Fink said. “We proved that over a 10-year period the school could save more than $202,000 in energy and maintenance costs, because in addition to the lower electricity usage, LEDs don’t require gels or lamp replacements. Also with LEDs the installation costs are lower because they require no dimmer rack and fewer circuits.”
Although school facility division officials were “pretty impressed,” said Fink, “they were new to LEDs so they wanted to look at longevity, quality, performance and other issues before they went forward.”
The decision to move “forward” was made this year when the New York Division of School Facilities requested that the auditorium at a smaller elementary school, PS 86X, be retro-fitted with LED stage lighting. The school’s existing conventional lighting system was less than five years old, but already was “completely burnt out,” said Fink.
PS 86X now enjoys the distinction of having the first all-LED stage lighting system in the New York City public school district. Fink used the same Elation fixtures that had worked so well at Walton, installing a total of 18 Opti Tri Pars and three DLED 60 Tri-Strips on the school’s 30’ wide by 15-1/2’ deep stage. A front strip over the stage contains 6 Opti Tri Pars, and a strip behind it holds the three DLED 60 Tri-Strips, along with four additional Opti Tri Pars. “The front lights give coverage over specific areas, while the back strip allows them to do band risers,” said Fink. The remaining 8 Opti Tri Pars are located on the front edge of the stage, four on either side.
The energy savings numbers at PS 86X were just as impressive as they had been at Walton: 12,400 watts consumed by the old system, and a mere 1,952 watts by the new one. The school district was so pleased that they have given the green light for an LED lighting system to be installed at a third school – this one a middle school.
In addition to the important requisite that fixtures be either ETL or UL approved, as the Opti Tri Par and DLED 60 Tri-Strip are, Fink says that he chose the two units for use in the school projects for a couple of reasons. “First, with schools we want to keep it to the point where the fixtures are simple and usable, as both of these lights are. Second, we don’t want to sell anything that we haven’t heavily tested. At the time the first job came about, we had seen these units, tested them, and looked at Elation’s service and replacement policy. Because of these factors, we decided that the lights were a good choice for schools.

Musikmesse Frankfurt 2010:
Klasični “kućni“ instrumenti opet nisu imali previše ponuditi pravom profesionalcu; do danas!!! Kurzweil PRO-X u 3 varijante nudi: kompletan PC3X uz dodatni fenomenalni 15-LAYER PIANO, a sve to spakirano u elegantno piano-polish kućište, vrhunske izrade. (Kurzweil inače radi i koncertne klavire tako da kvalitet laka i izrade nije nikada doveden u pitanje, kao kod nekih drugih proizvodjača). Sa ovakvom kombinacijom zadovoljstvo je zagarantirano; Profesionalac dobija pravu zvijer, iz koje može izvući sve što Kurzweil VAST+VA-synthesa omogućava, a porodica ima najbolji piano na svijetu – koji isto tako i izgleda. Perfektno! Perfektno!
